UNOLYMPICS.COM RESPONSE

26/09/2000

Dear Internet Tracing Operative (1),

We thank you for your letter regarding your concerns about our the Shame 2000 web site. While we welcome your feedback we find it difficult to accept your contention that "the website www.unolympics.com (is) displaying the Sydney 2000 logo and/or the Olympic five ring symbol in an unauthorised manner."

Shame 2000 is a satirical website developed by the Unolympics movement, a non- profit organisation promoting positive social change in our community. All names and graphics are either fictitious, or are used purely for the purposes of satirising public figures and/or entities. Any use of any image or name bearing any resemblance whatsoever to any living person or trademark is solely for the purposes of political satire, and constitutes an editorial useage for that purpose.

The Shame 2000 website and the Unolympics movement does not in any way:

* derive any commercial benefit or gain from the operation of Shame 2000 * include or promote any competitions, games (other than "Being John Howard" - The Game), subscription services or e-commerce of any kind.

It is abundantly clear to any intelligent visitor to the Shame 2000 web site that there is no official connection whatsoever, implied or actual, between the Olympic Games and the Unolympic movement or the Shame 2000 site.

The Unolympics supports the principles of free speech and expression as well as those of human rights and social justice. We welcome all feedback, and would like to thank you for your interest in Shame 2000 and the Unolympic movement.

Yours
