To Unolympics,
COPYRIGHT/TRADEMARK INFRINGEMENT NOTIFICATION PLEASE NOTE: THIS COMMUNICATION HAS IMPORTANT LEGAL CONSEQUENCES AND DEMANDS YOUR IMMEDIATE AND URGENT ATTENTION CCS Internal Reference : IBR 6779 Please quote the above IBR Reference in all communications with us regarding this issue.
We are sending you this communication on behalf of the International Olympic Committee ("IOC"), who is the owner of the rights to the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.
We have noticed that your Web Site www.unolympics.com is displaying the Sydney 2000 logo and or the Olympic 5 ring symbol, which are Olympic marks belonging to the IOC, in an unauthorised manner. As an example, please see the attached web page copy of http://www.unolympics.com/index.shtml taken today (15/09/2000).
Other than as a hypertext link to the Olympic Official websites, you may only use the Olympic marks for purely editorial use to illustrate news articles where the marks are an integral physical part of a relevant article and placed within the article. The Olympic marks must be accurately presented in their entirety. The Olympic marks or portions or adaptations thereof must not be used in any commercial context for instance adjacent to an advertisement or other marks including your web site logo, or in association with competitions, games, subscription services or e-commerce of any kind. The Olympic marks must not be used in any manner in your web site layout that could imply any official connection between your web site and the Olympic Games.
We wish to make you aware that we have a good faith belief that your present use is an infringement of the IOC's legal rights and that all such unauthorised use must cease immediately. Please confirm by return your agreement to this and give your undertaking to cease all such infringements on any and all of your web sites. We believe a period of 24 hours to implement any changes is reasonable and will therefore revisit your site when this period has expired. Pending your response the IOC's rights are fully reserved.
On behalf of the IOC may we thank you for your interest in covering the Olympic Games on your web site and for your prompt response to this request.
